In October 2019, I went to Kansas City, Missouri on an Alternative Service Break Trip! This was my first service trip that was presented by the Center for Career and Civic Engagement. I went with 7 other Moravian College students and we volunteered for a few organizations during Fall Break.

My favorite part of the trip was volunteering at Veterans Community Project (VCP). VCP is an organization that provides homes for homeless veterans. The homes are small, but they include all the necessities they would need! We helped with the interior of the houses. The staff appreciated all the work we completed over a few days.
When we were volunteering, we did a few fun activities. We actually went to a Chiefs football game! It was my first time seeing an NFL game so that was very exciting. The Chiefs lost, but it was an awesome experience.

If you ever get the chance to go on an Alternative Service Break Trip, definitely go! You get to make new friends, explore a new city (in some cases new countries), learn new skills, and learn about organizations and how they make an impact on their communities.
